The main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP), which had 109 seats before the election, won 96 seats, while Japanese Communist Party won 10 seats, Reiwa Shinsengumi (Re-Shin) won 3 seats and the Social Democratic Party (Shakai Minshu-tō) won only 1 seat.

One of the most remarkable elements in the general election is that the Japan Innovation Party increased its number of seats by more than 3 times to 41, while the People's New Party (Kokumin Shintō) won 11 seats. Thus, the number of representatives of the opposition increased from 156 to 172.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that they had lost seats, but the people had once again handed over power to the coalition government. Kishida, who was elected at the beginning of October and said they are deemed to be successful if they win 233 seats at least, noted that the citizen's authorization by election encouraged him. On the other side, CDP Leader Edano Yukio, who maintains his main opposition position, stated that they have been successful to some extent and a change of power may be possible in future.
